AppRoute App Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2, 2026

At VX9Studio, we believe that controlling how your phone accesses the internet should not come at the expense of your privacy. AppRoute is engineered from the ground up to give you granular control over your mobile data and Wi-Fi traffic—enabling per-app network routing, rate limiting, and custom data quotas—all executed 100% on your Android device. This Privacy Policy outlines how AppRoute operates, our strict zero-logging architecture, and our commitment to never collecting, selling, or routing your internet traffic to external servers.

1. How AppRoute Operates (100% Local On-Device Routing)

AppRoute utilizes Android's official VpnService framework to create a local virtual network interface (TUN) directly on your device.

• No Remote VPN Servers: Unlike conventional commercial VPN services, AppRoute does NOT route, proxy, tunnel, or relay your internet traffic through any external servers, third-party proxies, or cloud infrastructure.

• Local Socket Binding & Filtering: All network routing decisions—such as forcing specific apps to use Wi-Fi only, cellular data only, or blocking their connectivity entirely—take place entirely on your device's processor using native Android socket binding.

• Direct Carrier & Wi-Fi Connections: Once routed locally, your network packets travel directly between your phone and your chosen network provider (your Wi-Fi router or cellular carrier). VX9Studio has zero visibility into your network traffic.

2. Zero Traffic Logging & No Content Inspection

Your online activity is completely private. AppRoute adheres to an absolute zero-logging policy:

• No Content Inspection: We do not inspect, parse, analyze, or record the contents of your internet packets, HTTP/HTTPS requests, visited websites, domain names (DNS), or communication payloads.

• No Browsing History: We do not log which websites you visit, what videos you stream, or which services you access.

• Local Byte Counting Only: AppRoute measures only the raw numerical volume of bytes uploaded and downloaded by each application on your device. These counters are used exclusively to enforce the data quotas, speed limits, and usage graphs you configure.

3. No User Accounts or Personal Information Required

AppRoute is designed to be completely anonymous and frictionless:

• No Sign-In or Registration: You never need to create an account, provide an email address, enter a phone number, or sign in with Google or social media.

• Complete Anonymity: You can open and use AppRoute immediately upon installation without disclosing any personal identity information to VX9Studio.

4. Information Stored Strictly on Your Device

All configuration rules and historical usage metrics are stored locally in private application sandbox storage using an encrypted Room SQLite database and SharedPreferences:

• Per-App Routing Rules: Your preferences for which applications are routed through Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, or blocked entirely.

• Quota & Limit Configurations: Your user-defined data limits (such as monthly or daily byte quotas, warning thresholds, and bandwidth speed throttling preferences).

• Local Usage Statistics: Aggregated hourly, daily, and monthly byte usage counters per installed application, allowing you to review your historical bandwidth consumption.

• App Settings: Your chosen visual preferences (theme, dark mode, language, and notification toggles).

This data never leaves your device and is never synchronized with or backed up to any cloud server operated by VX9Studio.

5. Android Device Permissions & Justifications

To deliver reliable network routing and quota management, AppRoute requests the following specific Android permissions:

• VpnService (BIND_VPN_SERVICE): Required to establish the local on-device virtual network interface. This interface enables AppRoute to bind application traffic to your preferred network adapter (Wi-Fi vs Cellular) and meter bandwidth usage. Android requires a system confirmation prompt before activating this service.

• Foreground Service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE & FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE): Required to maintain the local routing engine continuously in the background without being unexpectedly terminated by Android's memory manager, ensuring uninterrupted connection stability.

• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): Required on Android 13 and newer to display the persistent status notification (showing current network mode, Wi-Fi/Cellular routing status, and quick-toggle controls) as well as critical data quota alerts (e.g. 80% quota warning or quota reached).

• Query All Packages (QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES): Required strictly on-device to enumerate the list of installed applications on your phone, allowing you to view and assign routing rules and data quotas per application. This package list is processed entirely in local memory and is never transmitted off your device.

• Boot Completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): Optional permission allowing AppRoute to automatically restore your routing rules and quota monitoring when your device restarts, if enabled in settings.

6. App Stability & Crash Diagnostics

To identify bugs, prevent unexpected app terminations, and ensure AppRoute remains stable across thousands of Android device models and operating system versions, we utilize Google Firebase Crashlytics.

• What is collected: Anonymous, aggregated technical diagnostics, including stack traces of crashes, device model, Android OS version, and system state at the time of an error.

• What is NEVER collected: Crashlytics never receives, reads, or records your network packets, visited URLs, IP destinations, app payload contents, or personal identifiers.

• Purpose: This information is used exclusively to debug software issues and enhance overall application reliability.

7. Zero Advertisements & No Data Selling

AppRoute is completely free of third-party advertisements and tracker networks.

• No Ad Networks: We do not integrate advertising SDKs, behavioral tracking libraries, or marketing pixels.

• No Data Monetization: We never sell, rent, license, trade, or share your usage metrics, network statistics, or personal device data with data brokers, advertisers, or third parties.

8. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

AppRoute may offer optional premium features or lifetime licenses processed securely through the Google Play Store.

• Secure Google Play Billing: All financial transactions are managed entirely by Google. VX9Studio never accesses, receives, or stores your credit card numbers, billing addresses, or payment credentials.

• Subscription Management: You can view, modify, or cancel any recurring subscription at any time directly within the Google Play Store under Payments & Subscriptions.

9. Data Deletion & User Control

Because all AppRoute configurations and usage history reside entirely on your device, you maintain full control over your data at all times:

• In-App Reset: Open AppRoute > Settings and tap 'Clear All Data' or 'Reset All Settings' to instantly wipe all routing rules, data quotas, and historical usage statistics from the local SQLite database.

• System Storage Clear: Open your phone's Android Settings > Apps > AppRoute > Storage and tap 'Clear Data' to immediately purge all application databases, caches, and preferences.

• App Uninstallation: Uninstalling AppRoute from your device automatically and permanently removes the application's local sandbox, erasing all stored routing configurations and byte records immediately.

10. Children's Privacy

AppRoute is a general-purpose network utility and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates, new Android platform capabilities, or evolving regulatory standards. Any revisions will be published on this page with an updated 'Last Updated' date.
